Mind/Body Fitness since 1977

What are your goals in life?

For Donald Spiderman Thomas, he wanted to break 3 Guinness book world records in public speaking using his research as a way of demonstrating the effectiveness of his mind/body fitness program.

Let Thomas show you how through this program he was able to achieve three Guinness Book World records in public speaking. His topics included the history of herbs in maintaining physical fitness and vegetarian athletic nutrition.

New Jump Swing is a health and fitness program inspired by the nutritional recommendations and philosophy of the late martial arts master and film icon Bruce Lee. The New Jump Swing Healthy Aging and Athletic Nutrition Program represents over thirty years of research by the author in the areas of physical rehabilitation, sports nutrition and ethnic health disparities.

Despite having a knee disease (Osgood-Schlatter) and subsequent knee surgery on both knees, as the former celebrity chairperson for the American Heart Association-Hawaii Chapter, Jump Rope for Heart campaign, Thomas has demonstrated and taught his program to more than 60% of the school system within the state of Hawaii as well as many of its premiere fitness clubs.

In Honor of the late Rev. Dr. John E. Moore, Herbologist Extraordinaire

The teacher who taught me enough about herbs and apiarian nutrition to be listed in the Guinness Book of Worlds Records for talking on the subjects.

Rest in Peace

Dr. John E. Moore, Hobo Herbologist Extraordinaire, as he was known, and Director of Herbology at The Tree of Life in Harlem passed from this Earth Thursday evening, August 2, 1990 at 7:00 PM just as the Moon passed into his Sun sign of Capricorn. He was 63 years old and a patient at the Qualicare Nursing Home in Detroit, Michigan where he was diagnosed as suffering from a combination of pneumonia and TB. He had been working at "Heal Inc." in Detroit with trips to Tuskegee, Alabama ever since he left The Wisdom Temple in Harlem in the Fall of 1988 where he had been teaching herbal classes since 1983.

In 1973, Dr. Moore had joined Kanya Vashon McGhee, founder and director of The Tree of Life, and remained there until September 1980 when the building was torn down. He was an initiate of numerous traditions who had spent 20 years on the road, delving into Indian, Mexican and native Black herbal lore with a clarity of mind and depth of Soul that has led him to become one of the most advanced herbal doctors on this continent. Born the son of a Baptist preacher in Caddogap, Arkansas in December, 1926, Dr. Moore was gifted with that charismatic energy of articulation and inspiration that is the especial province of the African American ministry. He is remembered by many for his regular Friday night lectures in Harlem and as having drawn crowds of over a thousand people in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village with his Sunday lectures on Herbology and Survival.

Professor Cleophas Jaccobs

September 7, 1930 ~ November 28, 2019 (age 89)

Professor Cleophas Jacobs (Iaido, judo, jujitsu) trained under Grandmaster Charles Elmore in the early days of East New York, Brooklyn. He also was an original student under Grandmaster Otani, who taught him the Katana, a method of martial art known as Iaido. He is from Brooklyn, New York. He was an original member of the Marcus Garvey Movement, holding the officers rank of Lieutenant at their Crown Heights location on Bergen Street near Nostrand Avenue. Today he resides in Florida. He is an accomplished editor and writer.

I studied with sensei Jacobs at the age of 16 at his Brownsville dojo located on Livonia Ave. near Saratoga Ave. It was at that time that I was introduced to the practice of drinking herbal teas after exercise sessions. It was also during that time that I embraced sensei's concept that African Americans needed a "fighting philosophy of life"!

Unfortunately, the pain of Osgood-Schlatter knee disease did not let me continue the physical training with sensei that I would have wanted. But the philosophical and psychological principles that he espoused put me on the path to the development of the Philosophy of Divine Nutrition and New Jump Swing.

Aloha, throughout the years, several documentaries have acknowledged Bruce Lee's contributions to the world of sports fitness as well as martial arts. Since the Tao of Jeet Kune Do was published, how many people can say that they have broken world records in ANY category as a result of applying his Jeet Kune Do philosophy? Jesse Glover (African-American) was Bruce Lee's FIRST STUDENT

and assistant instructor!j glover and bruce lee It is only logical that someone from the African American community could have taken his insights and expanded upon them. Philosophy of Divine Nutrition is the philosophy behind my internal martial art. New Jump Swing is the sports nutrition and healthy aging program based upon this philosophy. Through it I have broken three Guinness book world records in public speaking. My books on the subjects of nutrition and healthy aging were the speeches.

As the developer of a jump rope cross training exercise program, I am recognized through the American Heart Association as both a Master teacher and Master performer.

I hope one day to be recognized by the Jeet Kune Do Society as well.
